I can’t tell you how excited I am for the 2013 season of Beer With Your Buddy to kick off! Join us this Saturday from 3-5:30 at the Nomad Pub in Minneapolis. You can buy tickets online by clicking here. Pampered Pooch Playground and Bubbly Paws are a sponsor of this great Minneapolis dog event powered by the K9-Connection.
We put together some tips to make sure your pet stays safe with this extreme cold
• Keep your pet inside
• Be sure your pet has enough clean, cool water.
• When walking your pets, make sure to protect their feet with booties. If the paws are cracked Mushers Secret is a good healing cream (booties and cream are both available at Bubbly Paws). My personal favorite are the Ruff wear booties.
• Make sure the short haired dogs wear jackets and sweaters to stay warm. ( Jackets and Sweaters are available at Bubbly Paws)
• Limit your walks to 5 minutes or less. Dogs paws and noses can get frostbite, just like humans.
• Never leave your pet unattended in a parked car for any period of time.
• Be careful at local dog parks, many have turned into solid ice.
• Make sure your pooch has a warm place to sleep away from drafts from windows and doors. Be careful around open flames and electric heaters.
If you see an animal outside without shelter or in an unattended car, call Minneapolis Animal Care & Control immediately — in Minneapolis, dial 311 (612-673-3000). If you believe the situation to be life-threatening and the animal is non-responsive, please call 911.
Last night we had the Pampered Pooch Playground and Bubbly Paws staff holiday party. It is fun to get both businesses together, but it is always hard to find a time that works for almost everyone. I am not a fan of boring parties, so we always try to do something fun and exciting. This year we let the crew vote on what party they wanted, and the Skaties Eighties party won. So we went down the street to the St Louis Park Roller Garden for some great 80′s music and skating. Many of our employees even got into the party by dressing up. After an hour of skating and playing games we headed over to McCoy’s Public House which is right across the street from Bubbly Paws at Excelsior and Grand. We had the hole party room, complete with 80′s pop music for dinner and drinks. A big thanks to Brent and his staff at McCoy’s for all their hard work last night because everyone had a great time! If you were wondering, yes I got dressed up! I was sporting the Tiffany Amber Thiessen shirt… We looked and Saved By The Bell started in 1989, so I was safe with it!
All of our staff always work so hard everyday and this is the least we can do to show them that we appreciate all of the love and care they put into the job everyday. It really is hard to find great employees and we have a bunch of them!! Awwwww… Group Hug!! Before the night was over, the Bubbly Paws staff had to take a picture of the fun they had… Click Here to see it.
Have a great night!

The St Louis Park Magazine did a great photo recap of the 2012 Woof ‘n Treat Halloween party. We raised over $3000 for Homeward Bound Rescue! Pampered Pooch Playground and Bubbly Paws put this great event on each year.
Leaf was one of our first doggy daycare dogs and now it is time to honor him!
Bubbly Paws is hosting Diva Dog Leaf’s Book Signing Party to benefit Helping Paws of Minnesota, a charity that trains service dogs to assist individuals with physical disabilities. Allen and Linda Anderson, local best-selling animal book authors, will autograph Allen’s new memoir, A Dog Named Leaf: The Hero from Heaven Who Saved My Life at Bubbly Paws.Bubbly Paws will donate $5.00 from the sale of each book to Helping Paws, offer half-price nail trims, and knock 10 percent off the sale of all retail items during the book signing. Fun events include a doggy bar with “doggy beer”, a Helping Paws booth with a demonstration dog and volunteer to share information about training service dogs, the opportunity to sign up for pet photo appointments, and paw-tographs from Diva Dog Leaf, the dog hero with his own book.
Fox 9 stopped out at Bubbly Paws Dog Wash to talk with Trycia and Keith about the 5th annual Woof ‘n Treat dog Halloween Party. Check out the 4 segments below. (For those of you who don’t know, we also own Bubbly Paws Dog Wash)
Yesterday I was talking with one of our doggy daycare customers in the lobby and they asked me, if we were ready for our Woof ‘n Treat party this Saturday. Yes, we are! This year has been even harder than in other years because we invited all the stores at Excelsior and Grand (where our other business, Bubbly Paws is located), to be part of the fun. The great thing about having all the stores be part of it means there is so much more for everyone to do, but planning the event means so much more to coordinate. All the stores are very excited for this fun event! 100% of the money raised goes directly to Homeward Bound Rescue, which is why we we do this event!! I love our Halloween party which is why we keep adding to it each year, and this year is no different. Have a good day!

Below is a copy of a blog post that I just put on the Bubbly Paws page, but I wanted to share it with all of our doggy daycare customers as well!

The past 2 weeks, I have been working hard to get everything lined up for our 5th annual Woof ‘n Treat dog Halloween party which will be outside Bubbly Paws Dog Wash! Each year it keeps getting bigger and better and this year will be no different. I think back to the first year that we had the party at Pampered Pooch Playground, our doggy daycare because it was the first real event that we had! We learned a few things and then made it even better and more fun for customers and dogs each year. Last year was the first time we had the doggy party at Excelsior and Grand and it was a huge hit!!. All of the businesses in the area were so impressed with how well it ran, that everyone wanted to be part of it this year! Earlier this week, I had a great meeting with all the business owners and managers from the area and everyone is VERY excited for the event. This year the event benefits Homeward Bound Rescue. You can see all the details on the Woof ‘n Treat website and facebook page.
Below are just a few things that will happen this year.
- Local Beer tasting
- Hay rides (for dogs and people)
- DJ
- Amy James from K102 hosting the costume contest
- And so much more!!
If you have any ideas or suggestions, just let us know!

Keith and Patrycia Miller are the owners of the Pampered Pooch Playground (PPP) and Bubbly Paws. Between the two of them, Keith is slightly more public, doing interviews for the local news and writing for the PPP and Bubbly Paws blogs, to name a couple things. He wanted to make sure to give his wife Trycia a moment in the spotlight.
We see a lot of Keith at PPP/Bubbly Paws and online. Would you describe what you do for Pampered Pooch Playground and Bubbly Paws?
Keith and I are both at the daycare five days a week, dealing with the daily operations at PPP. You can usually find me there during the morning and the afternoon. Ellen, our manager, usually handles the evenings. I am there answering emails, the phone, and managing the daily operations. I love taking pictures of the dogs when I remember to bring my camera
At Bubbly Paws, I handle ordering all of the retail items we sell. I have so much fun picking out the latest and greatest in doggy fashions! Of course, when I am not physically at Bubbly Paws or at PPP, there is always something that can be done. I spend a lot of time at home working on scheduling, payroll, and other tasks that keep our businesses running. And don’t forget my most important job is keeping Keith in line each day. Ha!
What is your favorite part of your job?
The dogs! The dogs at PPP are always so happy and loving! It’s great to get to know each one of them and their personalities. Our staff and customers are also great,
and I love getting the chance to see them each day. I also love the fact that I get to hang out with my favorite dog, Roxy, and favorite person, Keith, each day.
I know it’s not always easy as a small business owner to disconnect from work. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work I love being active. You can find me at Core Power Yoga, Lifetime Fitness, Lori Harder Fitness or walking/running around the lakes. I also enjoy shooting pictures and learning about photography. One of my new favorite obsessions is Pinterest (an online pinboard to organize and share things you love). I love trying all of the recipes I find on there.

I asked Keith to share how he felt about working with his wife. “Trycia is the organizational part of our businesses and one of the most organized and detail-oriented persons I know. Getting to spend time together doing what you love is priceless. We are able to play on each others strengths to grow the business. As our business grows, so does our relationship.”
Not every married couple can happily work and play together, but it seems these two have figured out how to make it work—and have fun doing it. Their mutual respect and love are obvious. And, of course, they share in their love for Roxy, who inspired them to open Pampered Pooch Playground.
