Today was picture day with our doggie daycare dogs!  We teamed up with our friends at Modern Life Photo to offer custom Valentines Day Pictures and everyone was so excited for them!  Amber from Modern Life did such a great job with the photography!  The pictures will be released soon and I can’t wait to see them!

Have a great night!

barley the springer spaniel in st louis park,mnBarley is a springer spaniel who has been coming to us since he was a puppy!  Once the front door opens, Barley comes running in and get so excited to see all of his doggy friends that he runs right past the staff in the lobby!  We like to think of Barley as a miniature version of Roxy since they have the same markings.  Barley hangs out in Waggers Way and his best friends are Flynn, the golden doodle, and Finn, the gordon setter.  One thing that sets Barley apart from the other dogs is his “signature poof” of curly locks on top of his head and his parents swear they will never cut them off!

Matilda the Vizsla at doggy daycare in minneapolis, mn

Matilda after a recent bath after her hotel stay.

This past weekend Trycia and I were at Roxy’s favorite dog park in Minneapolis.  Well, it is not an official dog park, but it has turned into one.  I don’t want to tip the whole world off to where it is, but feel free to contact me and I will let you know.  Anyway, we were walking through the park and we saw Matilda the vizsla, who is one of our daycare dogs running and hopping through the snow!  She played with Roxy for about a minute and then Roxy laid down!  I really enjoy seeing all of our dogs and customers outside doggy daycare.

Have a good day!

Sadie the pug

Sadie the pug hangs out in Waggers Way at doggie daycare

Yesterday around noon, I was sitting in our office and heard what sounded like a jet engine taking off.  Melissa, one of our managers stopped in the office and heard the same thing, and I started to figure out what it was.  It was the computer that powers the webcams.  We have a backup computer for the high speed cameras, but the slow speed ones had to be shut down.  I shut down the computer for 30 minutes, thinking it was just a fan that needed a break, and when i turned it back on, the same noise happened.  Since it is a Mac computer, I made an appointment at the Apple store in Minneapolis (they are really dog friendly).  They took the computer back and found something to be defective and it will be replaced free of charge!  While it is being worked on, I updated our backup computer so all the cameras (high and low speed) are working, but you might notice just a little slower performance than normal.

A big thanks to the staff of the Apple store for some great service.  While I was waiting for everything to be looked at, I was showing off our iPhone app and they were loving it!

Have a good day!

Louise the weimaraner

Louise the Weimaraner enjoys the snow before it is shoveled away from the outside play area.

This morning I went to the doggy daycare bright and early to shovel our large outside play area. Surprisingly it is much easer to shovel snow BEFORE it is trampled down by a bunch of dogs playing in it.  Anyway, when we do projects like this, sometimes we will have a few of the dogs  around that like to help!  This morning one of the dogs outside with my while I was shoveling was Louise the Weimaraner who has been boarding in our hotel!  She kept chasing the shovel back and forth anytime I moved it.  She had so much fun doing this!  Louise was one of our first dogs through our door when we opened!  Louise’s dad owns a great business down the street, Chux Screen Printing, and they print the logo’s on all of our clothing.  When Louise is not at doggy daycare, she can often be seen running around the Chux offices.  I stopped in one day, and she was VERY excited to see me!

Have a great day!

Chaser the dogI was watching the news this morning before I headed into the doggie daycare and there was a story about Chaser, who they think is the worlds smartest dog and he knows more than 100 words!!  Read and watch his story by clicking here.

Have a good day!

Ina at doggie daycare in st louis park,mn

Ina spent the day playing in the Ruff House.

I swear there has to be something in the water at the doggie daycare?  5 of our employees have gotten engaged in the past 3 months!  Seriously how crazy is that?  Now most of the talk has shifted to wedding planning around the building.  One of employees even found the feature that The Knot did on our wedding.

What else is going on?  I am glad that the holidays are over at the PPP and that things are back to normal.

Hope you have a good day.

Bindi at doggie daycare

Bindi was lounging in the Canine Cove yesterday while at Doggy Daycare.

I still think back almost 3 years to April 20th, 2008 which was the first day we were open for doggy daycare.  At 6:45am a lady walked in with her dog, Bindi and Roxy got really excited to see her and they started playing in our lobby!  Roxy and Bindi quickly became best friends!! For the first year and a half, Bindi came to doggy daycare every weekday.  When Bindi spends the night, she stays at our house since Roxy is her best friend.  Bindi has been staying over the past few nights and it is really funny to watch Bindi and Roxy try to squeeze onto the couch with us!

Have a good day!

komo the pit bull at doggy daycare in minneapolis

Komo can often be seen hanging out in the PPP break room or wearing his reading glasses!

Wow, what a year it has been at Pampered Pooch Playground. Right now I just want to take some time and thank our wonderful staff for a great year!  Without them the PPP would not be what it is!!  We have so many employees that work so hard behind the scenes that never get the credit that they deserve!!! I really think that it is our amazing staff that sets us apart from the other doggy daycares in the Twin Cities.  On that note, I am really sad to announce that 2 of our staff will be leaving us this weekend.

Rebecca is one of our playground staffers that has been with us for almost 2 years.  She is in her final semester of grad school at the U of M and does not have the time for the doggy daycare and her studies!

Erin has also been with us over 2 years and is one of our managers and mom to Komo who is often seen hanging out in the break room with his paws up on the door for attention!  Erin graduated from the U of M last spring and finally landed a great job for a local clothing company!

I am personally really sad to see both of these ladies leave us (even though it is for a good reason)!  I really think of all of our staff like family!!

Again, thanks for a great 2010 and get ready for an even more fun 2011 with all of us at Pampered Pooch Playground!
