outside doggy daycare in minneapolisOne thing I have noticed when talking with new customers about our doggy daycare is their surprise when we talk about how nice out outside area is.   Outside we have about 3000 SQFT  of space for dogs to run and play, all made up of recycled sports turf.  The turf we used is from an old sports stadium in Arizona!  We love the turf and we are able to keep it much cleaner than traditional grass (which gets muddy), woodchips (that always smell) and gravel (that flies everywhere when dogs run).  We really did put much thought into what makes an AMAZING outside play area that can hold up to a Minneapolis winter.  Now that the weather is warmer we have also turned out the outside webcam so you can check out all the fun.  We take the dogs outside about every hour and they all love getting the fresh air!  When we were looking for buildings, finding one that could handle a large outside play area was very important to us.  I am so glad that we were able to create such an amazing space!

Have a great day!

Minneapolis doggy daycareCan you believe that it is already August?  This summer has been so much fun with Beer with your Buddy, Wine and Wag, Pride, and the only Sushi with your Poochie that we will be at, but it is not over yet. I was just going through our dog event calendar to update our website and it is not over yet.  We have another session of Doga and a few more Beer with your Buddies on their way, plus some other fun events.

We often get asked why we do so many events… Simply put, we like doing them!  Quite honestly we have been so busy with the events and at the daycare that I have slacked at blogging!

I hope everyone is having a good summer with their pooch!

Roxy at the Ruff House dog daycare in Minneapolis, mn

Roxy chews on a bone while one of our construction contractors looks things over.

Over the next few weeks we will begin some remodeling at the doggy daycare!  We always try to keep things fresh and new looking!!  The outside of the building will be getting a facelift with new paint and grass, we will be re-doing our food prep and grooming area and the Ruff House will be getting a pretty large makeover.  Most of these projects will be scheduled during non-peak times, so there will be very little inconvenience for our customers and our dogs.  We are very excited about all of the changes that will be taking place and will update you on all of the projects once they get started.

Have a great day!

Tonight I made a late evening trip into the doggy daycare to catch up on some small projects that are hard to do during business hours.  When I walked in I saw this letter on the front desk.  Guy was one of our past daycare dogs, and the fist dog that came to our daycare that passed his service dog training.  Guy was a HUGE fan of playing in the Ruff House when he was at Doggy Daycare!   Guy has been placed into a forever home and is doing great!  Guy’s parents are now training Phoebe who is a beautiful yellow lab puppy!  Hopefully she will see the same success as guy!

Hope everyone has a great night!

Drake came to visit dog daycareDrake, one of our old Pet Haven foster dogs stopped in to say hi to everyone today!  He has 3 legs but that does not stop him!  It has been about 5 months since I last saw him, and his tail started wagging the minute I walked in!  We love when Drake comes to visit, he gets LOTS of love and attention from the PPP staff (and even more from some of our older employees that were around when we fostered him).  I tried to take him on a walk with Roxy this morning, and all he wanted to do was lay in the grass and get his belly rubbed!  It was so great to see him today!

Norman after a day in the Ruff House at doggy daycareNorman is one of the golden retrievers that really enjoys going to doggy daycare.  This past Wednesday he spent the whole day playing in the Ruff House and outside with the hose and water.  He played super hard!  Wednesday night, we had a fund raiser at Bubbly Paws, and guess who showed up….. Norman!  He was so tired from a long day at doggy daycare, that he decided to lay down for his bath!  He is such a sweet guy!

Have a good weekend!

Jamie, one of our staff members (of over 2 years) just adopted a new puppy from Metropolitan Mutts!  Today was her first day at doggy daycare and she had so much fun!  She is such a sweet girl that loves attention.  Jamie is still thinking of names, once she comes up with one, we will let you know what it is!

This past weekend our dog hotel was packed with dogs boarding for the holiday weekend!  Everyone had such a great time playing outside (and inside when the weather was bad).

Have a great night!

Dog owners in Edina need to be careful of coyotes in the area.  We saw this on the FOX 9 news tonight, check out the video below. Random note.. I worked with the reporter when I first started in radio when I was in Des Moines.

isabelle outside at doggy daycare

Isabelle really loves playing outside with all of her friends at doggy daycare!

Seriously, the weather keeps messing with us… Maybe one day, it will warm up and we can start playing with the hose and pools outside with all of the dogs.  I predict that by August, it might actually be spring!  OK, I should not be complaining about the weather on our blog, but oh well… Keepin’ it real :)

Even when the weather is shotty, we still take the dogs outside often, but when it is nice, our huge outside area takes on a whole new feel.. It turns more into a doggy water park.

Have a good night.
