What a morning

murphy outside at doggy daycare Wow.  Technology is great, but when it stops working, you really notice it.  As you know there was some pretty intense storms last night, and it created an outage for Comcast in our area and most of the west side of Minneapolis.  This took down our webcams, texting, email and even our phones (we have Comcast phone service).  So this morning I was responding to everything using my iPhone and we tried to keep everything going smooth, but you don't realize how much you rely on the internet until it is gone.  Once everything was up and running around 9:30, it was business as usual for us ;)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

The Starbucks Run

bacon at dog daycare This morning I was driving in and decided to see if the Doggy Daycare crew wanted anyting... I chatted the daycare and got their order, went through the Starbucks drive through and I was all excited to  use my new iPhone app to pay for the drinks.... Then I found out that they don't accept the iPhone app through the drive through.  I was so bummed because I was so excited to try it!  That got me thinking... I wonder if there is a way we can use the PPP iPhone app to speed up the check out process at the daycare.  My wheels are spinning and I have sent a few emails about it.

And the best part is that our staff was very happy for the coffee this morning!

More Mobile...

JD on the doggy daycare webcam Finally, we now have a mobile app for almost every platform from the iPhone, Droid and now the BlackBerry.  We take great pride in leading the doggy daycare industry and are the only daycare in the country to have 3 apps, and we were the first with the iPhone app.  Pretty darn cool if you are into technology.  If you are not, oh well, we still have our regular webcams you can watch :)  For more information on our mobile apps, just click here.

PPP Technology Update

Ollie the Yellow Lab Puppy at Doggy Daycare Those of you that are on our email list found out about the update to our photo gallery where you can download the pictures of your pooch.  We do charge for this, but the money raised will be donated to local pet rescues!  One thing I did not mention in the email is our new Android App.  Just log on to the Android App store and download "Pooch Vision".  We are proud to be the first and still one of the few doggy daycares in the country with an iPhone and now an Android app.  What is next?? BlackBerry!

Have a good night.

Doggie daycare tech

We stopped a small hotel that ended up being super dog friendly while we were on vacation. I thought that it was pretty cool, from water bowls and treat dispensers in the lobby to a special welcome sign for the pooch. I wish we would have brought Roxy with us! List night we stopped for a drink with and started to talk to a woman who takes her dog to a doggy daycare here in Seattle. I asked if her daycare had an iPhone app, and she said "NO" and instantly Tweeted her husband who is a big wig at Microsoft. She was really upset that they did not have an app! I also mentioned that we were the first and still one of the only doggy daycares in the country to have an app. Now the next question, how soon until Microsoft builds an app for the doggy daycare world?

Have a good day!

iPhone Users

jackson the collieJust about 2 years ago, we were the first doggy daycare to create our own iPhone app and we just made it better.  Look for the update in the app store.  If you have not already downloaded the app, you can search for "Pooch Vision" in the app store.  Very few dog daycares have an app, and we are the only one in the Twin Cities to offer this.  We know we could charge $2 or $3 for the app, but decided to give it away because "why should you have to pay to watch your pooch play??"  New in this update is the option to make reservations and you can shake to change cameras.  We will continue to lead the doggy daycare industry with the use of technology and keep updating things as we can.  If you have any ideas of what we can do, please let me know. Jackson, the collie's dad is one of our many customers that has downloaded "Pooch Vision".

Have a good night.

Roxy's uptown tour

There are so many dog friendly businesses in the Minneapolis area and today we took Roxy on an adventure!  First stop was the brand new Apple store that opened yesterday in Uptown.  This is first Apple store of the kind for Apple to open and it is AMAZING!  We got a private tour of the briefing room (which is all controlled by an iPad) and the rooftop garden!  What an AMAZING place and they are very dog friendly.  Almost every store employee stopped to say hi to Roxy!  While we there we showed off our iPhone app Pooch Vision which will have an update out this week. The Apple employees thought our app was pretty darn cool! You can see in the picture that Roxy would not stand still long enough to take a picture because she wanted to go back in and see everyone again! Next stop was Chiang Mai Thai which is right across the street.  We sat out on the patio with 2 other dogs.  They really enjoy having dogs on the patio and it shows!

I know we normally blog about stuff around the daycare, but sometimes I like to include other dog friendly info :)

Next stop for Ms. Roxy... The couch.  She is pooped!

Have a good day!

Reggie goes home

ReggieOne of the highlights of my day is when parents come to pick up their dogs.  I love seeing how excited to dogs get when the are reunited after a long day of play at doggie daycare.  The tails always wag and the dogs are always so happy to see their parents.  I also love when the dogs come charging through the front door in the morning with excitement.  Today, Reggie (in the picture), went home and he was excited to see his family! Here is a funny story from the lobby today.  Mugsy's mom (Mugsy is a puggle) came to pick him up and she was talking about how she was addicted to our iPhone app; she was watching him play all weekend while he was checked into the hotel.  She asked who the other puggle was that he was playing with, and the other puggle's name was Mugsy also.  How random.  Friday when I went back with the dogs, it took me about 30 minutes to realize there were 2 puggles named Mugsy.  What a random name!

Have a great night. Keith
