Dog Of The Month - July

We have teamed up with our good friend Eva Noth Photography to present "Dog of the Month".  Each month we will have a different theme, and our staff will vote on who the best fit for the theme is.  Any dog that comes to doggy daycare or spends the night in our hotel is eligible to become "Dog of the Month".  In July our theme was "Best Lobby Greeter" and Mack, one of our employees dogs won!  We would not normally pick a staff dog, but this was the first month of doing it.  The winning dog gets the honor of their picture hanging in the lobby for the following month and they receive a free photo session with Eva Noth Photography!

Mack is a Lab, Basset Hound, Visla mix that was adopted through Second Hand HoundsJess, our manager and Mack's doggy momma loves to outfit Mack with stylish bandannas and collars.  Jess and Mack have also been known to have matching bandannas!  Next time you stop in, Mack will give you a great greeting in the lobby!

Meet the Crew - Kelly!

kellyName: Kelly Length of time working here: Since August 2011

Do you have any pets?

I have a Chihuahua named Wilma, a Corgi named Hubble, a foster Japanese Chin named Panda and a Cat named Waffles!  You will often see Hubble and Panda, in the lobby, greeting people in the evening :)

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Most of my spare time is spent being a foster care leader for Underdog Rescue which entails looking through applications for potential adopters and answering questions about the dogs they are interested in, along with conducting home visits and even doing transport to bring puppy mill dogs from Iowa to Minneapolis!  I am also available to an assigned group of fosters for Underdog and they can ask me any questions or express concerns about their fosters and I help them out any way I can.  Every weekend I attend adoption events and help run them along with other volunteers. I also recently signed up to help out with Chicken Run Rescue and am looking forward to getting more involved during the summer!

What is your favorite part about working at PPP?

My favorite part about working at PPP is, of course, the dogs and people I get to meet. I have really enjoyed getting to know different dog breeds and learning more about their personalities and play styles. When I meet a breed I never knew about, I like to do some research and read what they were originally bred for and see how that comes through in their individual personalities and the way they interact with other dogs!

Funniest/Favorite PPP moment:

In general, my favorite moments at pampered pooch are when the weather changes and we get to go outside.  So when it first snows, the dogs go bonkers and run around and I love to throw snowballs for them.  In the summer, I enjoy going outside and sitting in the sun. My favorite human moment is doing a tequila shot with my wonderful coworker, Lexi and my awesome boss, Keith at the last PPP powwow :)

Roxy and Rowdy in Print

Hero Mutts with Wiggle Butts Our good friend Amber (AKA Roxy and Rowdy's mom), just published her first children's book called Hero Mutts with Wiggle Butts!  Can you guess who the stars of the book are???  Yep! Her dogs Roxy and Rowdy who come to doggy daycare!  The hard copy of the book is not out yet, but you can download the digital copy from iTunes.  Just click here for the link.   The other night I read the book to Ambers Roxy and Rowdy along with our Roxy who was sporting the free cape that comes with the book (get it Hero Mutts).  I am so excited to have famous dogs come to our doggy daycare!

Have a good night!

Bean

bean the dog n minneapolis,mnBean is an ex-puppy mill breeding dog and is sometimes shy around our doggy daycare staff.  Bean is really comfortable in the play rooms and enjoys the company of the other dogs!  This past week, Bean spent a few nights boarding in our dog hotel and did great with it!  I am always excited when we see dogs that have been rescued from such poor conditions like a puppy mill, and then the succeed in doggy daycare!  It really is a cinderella story! Have a great afternoon!

Wine and Wag

Last night we were at Wine and Wag which was Downtown in Minneapolis and put on by the K9-Connection.  What a great time and event!  It was so much fun to see so many of the PPP dogs out and having a great time!  So many of our pet industry friends helped to sponsor this fundraiser for Homeward Bound rescue, and we were located right next to Bone Adventure.  About 1/2 way through the night we started having some fun taking pictures of Eloise who belongs to one of the Bone Adventure employees.

Make sure to keep watching our events page to stay updated on all the coolest dog events in the Twin Cities.

Have a great day!

The Twin Cities Puppy Bowl is Back!

Twin Cities Puppy Bowl logoGet ready Twin Cities.  One of my favorite events of the year is back and bigger than ever; the Twin Cities Puppy Bowl!  Last Year Pampered Pooch Playground was a main sponsor of the event, and this year we have moved aside, and let our other business, Bubbly Paws Dog Wash sponsor it.  Also part of the event are Sarah Beth PhotographySidewalk Dog and Just Paws Training.  We will be filming all the puppy cuteness this weekend and it will be released online very soon!  Look for some pictures this weekend from the filming!  Most of the puppies featured in the Twin Cities Puppy Bowl are available for adoption from local rescues.  As we always talk about, one of the core values of Pampered Pooch Playground is to give back to the community in which we are located and this is just one way that we do it.  If you want to watch some of the puppy cuteness from last year, you can watch the video on the Twin Cities Puppy Bowl website. Have a good night!
