Group Nap Times

dog daycare nap time in minneapolis, mn I still remember the first week that we opened (almost 4 years ago) and I remember how we tried to do "nap time" like all the other dog daycares in the area did.    We would put all the dogs in cages for 2 hours.  In theory they would lay down and nap, but honestly it does not happen.  We tied it for a month and it was nothing but non-stop barking everyday.  We started thinking and wondering if we can do things different, and guess what... We did!  So we started our group nap times, where the gigs just lay down in the play areas and take a nap.  It is so much less stressful on the dogs and on our staff.  Log onto our webcams around 1pm everyday and you will see what I am talking about.

Starting in January, we are really excited to do some more remodeling (I love to change and update things all the time).  We are all pretty excited about it.  The final details are still being worked out, but once everything is finalized we will give you all the details.

Have a good day!

Dolly

dolly the beagleDolly is one of the older girls that really enjoys spending the night at our dog hotel. She really enjoys staying with us, and really loves attention.  She can often be spotted on the webcams in the Canine Cove laying on one of the beds!  Dolly get really excited when she sees her food or if someone has a treat in their hand.  We really love having dolly spend the night with us. Have a great night!

Gotta love technology

Lobster at dog daycareI am not gonna lie.. I am a total computer geek...  The cool thing about that is that PPP keeps staying on top of the technology!  How many daycares have their own iPhone, Android and Blackberry app?  (if you want ours, it is free, just download "Pooch Vision" in the app store).  I logged onto facebook tonight when I got home and saw that Lobster's mom took a screen shot on her iPhone of Lobster in the room and put it on her page. So many of her friends were jealous that she can watch Lobster anywhere while he is having fun at doggy daycare :)  It was cool to see the responses!  (Side note... PPP was the first and still one of the few daycares to have their own app) This makes me think that streaming the webcams to our website is so 2010!!!  Watch out.. What will we do next? Have a good night!

What a Fix!

Sadie the pug Yesterday around noon, I was sitting in our office and heard what sounded like a jet engine taking off.  Melissa, one of our managers stopped in the office and heard the same thing, and I started to figure out what it was.  It was the computer that powers the webcams.  We have a backup computer for the high speed cameras, but the slow speed ones had to be shut down.  I shut down the computer for 30 minutes, thinking it was just a fan that needed a break, and when i turned it back on, the same noise happened.  Since it is a Mac computer, I made an appointment at the Apple store in Minneapolis (they are really dog friendly).  They took the computer back and found something to be defective and it will be replaced free of charge!  While it is being worked on, I updated our backup computer so all the cameras (high and low speed) are working, but you might notice just a little slower performance than normal.

A big thanks to the staff of the Apple store for some great service.  While I was waiting for everything to be looked at, I was showing off our iPhone app and they were loving it!

Have a good day!

Another Webcam!

Butters in the Canine Cove Many of you have asked us to add another doggy daycare webcam for the Canine Cove.  Placing webcams is always so hard, we really want to show you the entire room, but are so limited by where there is power and internet connections.  I hope everyone enjoys the new Canine Cove camera!  You can watch it on PamperedPoochPlayground.com or on "Pooch Vision" on the iPhone, Droid and Blackberry devices.

Cheesecake Fun

minneapolis,mn dog event Last night we were at the Muddy Paws cheesecake sampling and holiday bazaar in St Louis Park.  What a turnout, it was wonderful to see so many of our customers enjoying what might be the worlds best cheesecake!

At the daycare, you might have noticed that we keep moving the doggy daycare  webcams in Waggers Way.  Since we decided that this room works best as one LARGE room (about 4200 sqft), rather than 2 small ones, we are trying to position the cameras so you can see everything.  We are not 100% there, but are getting close and it is on the top of my list of things to do today!

Have a great day!

More Mobile...

JD on the doggy daycare webcam Finally, we now have a mobile app for almost every platform from the iPhone, Droid and now the BlackBerry.  We take great pride in leading the doggy daycare industry and are the only daycare in the country to have 3 apps, and we were the first with the iPhone app.  Pretty darn cool if you are into technology.  If you are not, oh well, we still have our regular webcams you can watch :)  For more information on our mobile apps, just click here.

Doggie daycare tech

We stopped a small hotel that ended up being super dog friendly while we were on vacation. I thought that it was pretty cool, from water bowls and treat dispensers in the lobby to a special welcome sign for the pooch. I wish we would have brought Roxy with us! List night we stopped for a drink with and started to talk to a woman who takes her dog to a doggy daycare here in Seattle. I asked if her daycare had an iPhone app, and she said "NO" and instantly Tweeted her husband who is a big wig at Microsoft. She was really upset that they did not have an app! I also mentioned that we were the first and still one of the only doggy daycares in the country to have an app. Now the next question, how soon until Microsoft builds an app for the doggy daycare world?

Have a good day!

Welcome to the 2000's

Bruno the Miniature Pinscher Many of you know that I am originally from the Chicago area and one of my good friends owns a doggy daycare just outside Chicago.  Surprisingly Pampered Pooch Playground is very similar to their daycare.  This past week, they just turned on their webcams so customers can watch their dogs play!  Over the past few weeks I remotely configured the webcams for them so they would stream.  If you want to check them out, just click here.  Funny, the cameras look the same as the Pampered Pooch Playground webcams.

Have a great day!

Good news for corporate office viewers

We know many of our clients love to watch our dog daycare webcams, and those that work in large offices have the webcams blocked by your company firewalls.  Now if you are unable to watch the high speed webcams (if you get an error message or page not found), you can load the slow speed webcams and that will get you around your company firewall.  This was a feature on our old site that we forgot to bring to the new one, and I am very sorry that it took a week to get added.  Happy viewing, and as always please let me know your feedback :) Keith
